It can be crazy-cooky-hilariously funny when something goes wrong in the kitchen. Some of us used to like watching that Swedish Chef (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mbs64GvGgPU) from the Muppets flail around… or when our favorite celebrity chef bungles a dish (http://www.delish.com/cooking-shows/food-tv/celebrity-chef-mistakes#slide-1) something fierce.
In the world of baked goods, we all make mistakes. That’s how we learn and perfect what we like to make, and eat. However… we also like a good chuckle. That’s why we have gone out and found some #BakingFails for all to enjoy.
Abby’s Top #Bakingfails
This one seems like the most obvious of all — don’t open the oven door while you’re baking! This is also the hardest one to resist. Who doesn’t want to peek inside and see how their yummy creation is coming along? The reality is that if you can’t resist opening the oven door, it may in fact be the biggest #Bakingfail of all: opening the oven door can and does cause the oven temperature to change. Think about it — you set the time/temp for specific amounts. Why would you want to alter that, even one second or degree? Don’t be that #Bakingfail baking geek. Don’t peek!
UGLY IS AS UGLY DOES!
Who let the color-blind drunk chef into the kitchen? At least this thing kinda-sorta-maybe looks like a cake, but c’mon…
RUNNING MAN GONE BAD!
Our entire editorial board spent weeks (months) trying to figure out what in tarnation is going on here. It looks like someone was trying to replicate a “running man” or a “marathon runner” or something… what they wound up with was, as far as we can tell, a bloated snowman. (Truth be told, it looks kinda yummy, for a #Bakingfail)
WHO SCARED WHO?
What kid – or, what adult for that matter — wouldn’t love to bite into one of these yummy blue bad boys. Cookie Monster is one of the most iconic cookies around. Tragically, it looks like this baker got so spooked by the Cookie Monster that he (or she, but probably a “he”) let the cupcake fail under it’s own fright.
BURN PIZZA BURN!
Yikes! I bet every single one of us – every single “baker” in the lot – has burnt something at least once. I mean, really, would we be a real baker if we hadn’t. Still, we can’t help but thinking “poor pizza” when we look at this…
HMM. I FELT PATRIOTIC WHEN I STARTED!
Rutro. This one would be a colossal #Bakingfail. Mostly because if you’re going to make a “patriotic” cake, you’re probably making it for a specific occasion – 4th of July, Memorial Day, Soldiers Birthday, etc.
Before #Bakingfail… After #Bakingfail…
WHAT RECIPE CALLS FOR TWO GALLONS OF WINE?
We just like this picture because who among us hasn’t been tempted by cooking wine before. Actually, we’d love to see more of these pictures and add them to our #Bakingfail collection.
WAIT A SECOND, HOW DID THIS GET IN HERE?!
Abby’s very own scrumptious macaroons! Moist, plump coconut macaroons. Lush, sticky, creamy coconut formed to a golden mounded peak, plain or dipped in Kosher pareve, non-dairy delicious chocolate. They might not be a #Bakingfail, but they’re going to remind us to keep baking, keep trying and keep enjoying baked food.
Happy eating from all of us at Abby’s Millstone Baking Company!
